Whether you have a background in project management or you’re just looking to change careers, an online degree in project management will certainly benefit you. From managing teams to communicating effectively, you’ll learn all the secrets to succeed as a project manager. No matter your industry of interest, from government to healthcare, learning to juggle deadlines, multiple stakeholders, consultants, subcontractors, budgets, marketing teams, and more will serve you well in securing the career of your dreams.
What is a Project Management degree?
From healthcare and agriculture to manufacturing and construction, nearly every industry requires creative project managers to assist in getting initiatives off the ground. A Project Management degree trains students to adequately initiate, plan, execute, control and close out projects. A project management degree not only furthers leadership and advocacy skills, but it also instills confidence in students moving forward.
Most of the below programs are between 120-180 credit hours, depending on the amount of experience needed beforehand. Depending on the school, you might enroll as a full-time or part-time student.
A similar, broader program to consider is a Business Administration degree.
How much can you earn with a Project Management degree?
With a bachelor’s degree in project management, your salary will vary depending on the industry you choose to work in. For example, a Project Management Manager at a major bank can make upwards of $105,000 per year, while Construction Managers can make upwards of $91,000 per year.
Of course, your earning potential is dependent upon your education, your area of expertise, what industry you work in, and in what city you choose to work.
What is required for a Project Management degree?
Many of the below programs require applicants to have either an associate’s degree or some work experience. Others require applicants to be at least 22 years of age. Several prerequisite skills are also desired by most colleges, such as communication skills, the ability to work within a team, and the ability to multitask.
Some of the programs below also require students to complete a capstone or final project equivalent in order to receive their degree. Many online bachelor’s degrees on this list can be completed in 3-4 years.
What are the best Project Management degrees?
OSR uses six data points: three school-wide and three program specific. For school-wide, OSR uses Student Satisfaction, Admission Rates, and the number of programs the school offers online. For program specific, OSR checks the Median Debt of graduates from that program, how many degrees are offered within that program’s umbrella department, and what percentage of students at that school graduated from that department.
The six statistics are displayed by each school. The sliding bar under each statistic represents how that school compares to other US institutions. “Not reported” means a school did not release that information to the US Department of Education. A more detailed description of the OSR process can be found on the methodology page.
