What is an Online Master’s in International Business degree?

Obtaining an online master’s degree in international business will accelerate your knowledge and expertise within the international business sector. Usually, individuals seeking this degree are developing skills for a managerial or director-level position within the global economy.

Throughout your studies, you’ll undergo rigorous courses that pertain to cross-cultural communication, international business development, and global management. In doing so, you’ll be efficient and confident in strategizing, organizing, and managing international operations. Acquiring this degree will allow you to work closely with the international marketing, finance, and human resource management departments.

Your possible job title could be any of the following, but not limited to:

  • International Marketing Director
  • Finance Controller
  • Management Analyst
  • Business Development Director
  • International Trade and Customs Manager
  • International Foreign Policy Advisor

How much can you earn with an Online Master’s in International Business degree?

An online master’s degree in international business is acquired in one of two ways: through a direct international business master’s program or concentrating in international business through a business administration master’s program.

There are several different career positions for this level of accreditation, so it’s hard to say what the average earnings are. According to PayScale, the average salary with a master’s in international business is $81,000, whereas an MBA concentrating in international business averages at $90,000. Your salary will vary based on your level of experience and specialty within international business studies, as well as the level of recognition from your chosen institution.

What is required for an Online Master’s in International Business degree?

Like most master’s programs, an online MIB or an MBA in International Business typically takes two years to complete. However, there are accelerated online programs where students can achieve their degree in as little as 18, 15, or 12 months. On the other hand, there are also programs that allow you to complete on a part-time schedule, which can take anywhere from three to five years, depending on your plan of execution.

When applying for a master’s program, you may or may not be required to test for the GMAT or GRE. Some programs will require it, whereas others may allow you to substitute a certain amount of experience.

You may also want to consider a general business master’s and focus your electives on international business.

What are the best Online Master’s in International Business degrees?

OSR uses six data points: three school-wide and three program specific. For school-wide, OSR uses Student Satisfaction, Admission Rates, and the number of programs the school offers online. For program specific, OSR checks the Median Debt of graduates from that program, how many degrees are offered within that program’s umbrella department, and what percentage of students at that school graduated from that department.

The six statistics are displayed by each school. The sliding bar under each statistic represents how that school compares to other US institutions. “Not reported” means a school did not release that information to the US Department of Education. A more detailed description of the OSR process can be found on the methodology page.
